Sydney Vivid 2016

Night photography has it's own artform and David took this years Sydney Vivid celebrations to hone in his skills. Vivid Light transforms Sydney into a wonderland of 'light art' sculptures, innovative light installations and grand-scale projections for all to enjoy. Infrared Photography

While photography is the art of capturing light, IR photography on the other hand is the art of capturing invisible light. All that is required is a DSLR camera and a IR-filter, or a dedicated IR camera modified by removing the filter that stops infrared and ultraviolet light from striking the camera's sensor and replaced by one designed to only allow infrared light to pass through.

HDR Photography

High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography is an advanced set of photography techniques that use the image's dynamic range in exposures. HDR Photography allows photographers to capture a greater range of tonal detail than any camera could capture through a single photo. It involves taken 3 or 5 photos at different exposures.

Astrophotography

Astrophotography is a specialized type of photography that entails recording images of astronomical objects and large areas of the night sky. With only a few exceptions, astronomical photography employs long exposures, involving the amount of light hitting the sensor. Urban areas produce light pollution so it is best to seek out remote locations to allow long exposures without the sensor of the camera being swamped with stray light. Mark although being reasonably new to this photographic form has already produced stunning photographs, some of which are displayed in his gallery.

Creative Images

A definition of creative photography is an extension of conventional photography into creative art. Its purpose is to stimulate creative thoughts and encourage experimentation with new ideas going beyond a simple photograph. There should be a significant photographic content, and inclusion of mixed media of any kind (photocopy, paint, transfer, digital etc).(i>Source: ncp.org.au).

Water Drop Photography

Water droplet photography is very easy to get started with, and you can get as complex as you want. There are three tricks to making beautiful pictures: Light placement, timing and flash duration.
Starting is fairly easy; you need nothing more than a camera and a way to make drops. As with any subject and the equipment you are using, you can aquire more advanced equipment and take it to the next level. David has done that and here is some sample images.

Monochrome Photography

In photography, monochrome is the capture of only shades of black and white, or by post-processing a colour image to present only the perceived brightness by combining the values of multiple channels (usually red, blue, and green). With the absence of colour, it challengers the photographer's artistic expression in creating the final monochromatic image.
Vicki is one such photographer who has the eye for composition and artistic expression and is able to produce stunning photographs with the absent of colour.

Bird Photography

Neville has been interested in birds all of his life and is a member of the Friends of Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park and Birdlife Australia. Photographing birds requires persistence to locate them and then stealth to get close enough to get good quality photographs. Gaining the trust of birds is an art and one never stops learning. It is a great source of pleasure to see Australia's wonderful birdlife through the lens and be able to share the photographs with others. Neville is one such photographer, as his Gallery testifies.

'Out of the Square' Photography

John is renown in our Club for his 'out of the box' composition in his images. Many of the images are simplistic in their approach which attracts the viewer's attention. For a given photograph, John will tend to come up with the more "creative" solution, he is not afraid to change it up occasionally, doing things which could be said is beyond the guide lines of photography
